When the color is too weak in offset printing, several problems can occur, leading to low quality final results.
These problems can be:
Dull or Faded Colors
This is problem especially when the job requires shiny, bright, vibrant colors to stand out, such as in marketing materials, brochures, or packaging.
Poor Ink Coverage
It happens when we don’t have proper transfer of the ink from the printing plate to the paper/cardboard so we have uneven coverage on the printed material.
Low Contrast
When the color is weak different design elements on the printed sheets may be difficult to distinguish so we will have low contrast in the final print.
Ink Setting Issues
It needs much more time for the ink to dry or set especially when we print on some glossy or special papers. This can lead to ink offset or transfer of color between pages when we have some large printing runs.
Poor Color Matching
In weak colors achieving desired Pantone colors or some other color systems is very hard, especially for brand-specific colors.
Possible Causes of Weak Color
Improper ink/water balance
Improper concentration of fountain solution
Incorrect Press Settings
Improperly setting of rollers of printing press
Solutions to Overcome this Problems
Adjust to proper ink/water balance.
Adjust fountain solution to proper pH,conductivity and temperature.
All press settings, including pressure, ink density, and speed of the press must be properly adjusted.
Adjust printing rollers to proper settings
